The suite
The Terrace Suites occupy the set-back floors of the tower, where the building steps in and leaves a stone balustrade running the width of the room. That terrace is the reason to book one: a table for two, a pair of lounge chairs, and the avenue dropping away below.
Inside, the sitting room and bedroom are separate, joined by a pair of lacquered doors. The rooms keep the 1926 detailing — fluted plaster, a nickel fireplace surround, a dressing table with a triple mirror — over a floor of book-matched walnut.
The bathroom is marble to the ceiling, with a deep tub, a separate rain shower, and a window onto the same view. A bar cart is set on arrival; the Aviary rooftop is two floors up by a private stair.
